A Night at the Tractor with Shawn Smith

Golden Slumbers fill your eyes
Smiles awake you when you rise
Sleep pretty darling do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby

- The Beatles

It's not how I pictured a night with Shawn. I'd much rather be with him at the opera or at the races, but there we were... at a country western-themed tavern. Okay, I'm being a bit dramatic -- The Tractor Tavern is as rock as Ballard gets, and that's just fine. It's my new favorite neighborhood. It's only natural to think of Shawn on a much more regal stage; the delivery of his music and message, it turns out, though~ needs no fancy opera house. We need only to open our hearts.

classic, "Buttercup"

So, there we all were, waiting for Shawn -- the loyal fans who braved the downpour of rain on a Sunday night. I sort of think he did it on purpose to ensure a cozy setting, in fact, I'm sure of it!

Lucky we are, Shawn Smith we love! Film producer

to take the stage.

Classic Shawn Smith .....

Still, there managed to be a full house (nice try my old friend, nice try). You could hear a pin drop as he sang, and everyone braced themselves to receive the gift of his voice and music, much like the way opera moves people. For rockers, folk singers, and lovers of the band Foghat -- Shawn is our guy! As a matter of fact, one of the highlights of the night was when a girl from L.A. jumped on stage with him to hug him! I don't know what that says about the Hollywood music scene, but for future reference, girls, hands off! Shawn's heart belongs to Seattle!

I think I got a tan from the rays of his purple aura!

People familiar with  Shawn's range as a vocalist and tear jerking lyrics go the distance to see him~and are not deterred by a little rain,  and all the super talents of Seattle are always anxious to play with him too, so it was nice to see local guitar hero Justin S. Davis join him for some new songs and what I believe was a George Jones cover!

I am considering it a good sign that  following the yellow brick roads of Ballard in the rain~ led me to Shawn Smith.
